Upload a design to see its DPI.
300 DPI is what most print providers ask for: the print looks sharp even up close. 150 DPI is the usual minimum; garments and large posters viewed from a distance still look fine, but fine lines and small text get soft. Below 150 DPI, prints look blurry or pixelated.
DPI depends on the print size: the same file is 300 DPI at 10 inches wide and 150 DPI at 20 inches. That's why this checker asks for the size you'll print at.
A common t-shirt file is 4500 × 5400 pixels, which is 15 × 18 inches at 300 DPI, so it's sharp at any normal t-shirt print size.
No. Only the number of pixels matters. Changing the DPI setting without adding pixels just changes the print size it suggests. Upscaling adds pixels but can't add detail, so recreate or vectorize the design if you can.
On garments, anything that isn't transparent gets printed, so a JPG or a PNG with a white background prints as a white box on a colored shirt.
No. The file is read in your browser and never leaves your computer.
